Editor's note: Because we understand the difference between Chinese and Western medical treatment, my daughter Moxi and I were full of struggles during the first two days when my husband was hospitalized. Through this experience, I especially understand the helplessness and even helplessness that patients and their families feel when they are in the hospital. Without my strong confidence in Chinese medicine, and without my daughter's calmness, I might have been captured by "scientific" Western medicine, or I might have been "kidnapped" by all kinds of caring friendships. Looking back now, this experience is also a treasure, because illness really has merit.
Mo Xi and I check on our husband every day, but our inspection is gentle, looking, hearing, asking and asking.
Only by having confidence in Chinese medicine can we resist the "science" of Western medicine
——Memories of family members being hospitalized
How can a person be free from illness if he is not a god? But what kind of treatment should be chosen after the disease is very challenging.
In the early morning of February 1, my husband fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. This also gave me the opportunity to observe the diagnosis and treatment process of Western medicine with my own perspective of Chinese medicine. The description is as follows.
onset of illness
At around 4 a.m. on the 1st, my husband woke up my daughter Moxi and me because of shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and being unable to lie down. Mo Xi and I immediately helped him press the Neiguan and Tanzhong acupoints on his left and right hands. He told us that he had taken Jiuxin Pills and nitric acid intoxicating oil tablets. At the time of the onset of the disease, Mr. was conscious, his complexion was normal, and his pulse was moderately strong.
Starting from August 2004, my husband has not been to the hospital, including physical examination, for 13 years. All the physical discomforts that he usually suffers from are treated by Mo Xi and me with Chinese medicine. Over the past 13 years, my husband has been under increasing work pressure. He spends almost 20 hours out of 24 hours a day at work or busy with work-related matters. I know that due to nearly 30 years of night work, long-term lack of sleep, lack of exercise, smoking, and obesity, his health will have problems sooner or later. The reason why he did not have problems before is because the conditioning of traditional Chinese medicine has kept him in a relatively balanced state. This gave him the illusion that the word "sick" would never appear on him, so he often had the confidence to consume his health more and more. When I'm busy, I often work non-stop and can go without sleep for 24 hours. He was finally going to end up in the hospital.
Seeing that he was very uncomfortable and the Chinese medicine could not be prepared and drank immediately, after discussion, we called an ambulance.
first day in hospital
At around 5 o'clock, the ambulance took us to the hospital. Now the hospital's examination equipment is very advanced, and the first aid is timely and professional. As soon as the husband lay on the hospital bed, oxygen and various testing instruments were in place, and blood drawing, sling bottles, and diuretic injections were carried out step by step. After the diuretic injection, my husband urinated quickly. This was followed by a bedside chest DR examination. During the examination, the doctor asked the family members of other patients in the emergency room to leave. He also repeatedly asked whether any of the patients were pregnant. I began to have an inexplicable fear and rejection of this kind of inspection.
As soon as I lay on the hospital bed, the first aid injection was administered.
Around 7 o'clock, Mo Xi completed the hospitalization procedures for his father. From around 5 o'clock to 8 o'clock, five doctors asked him about his name, age, past medical history, disease course, appetite and bowel movements. They all asked the same questions. , repeated the question 5 times, and the gentleman answered breathlessly every time. I was thinking, why bother the patient like this? You're already low on energy, so you still need to waste it like this? Why can’t we share the textual information of the first consultation with other doctors?
Around 9 o'clock, the results of the blood test came out. Myocardial enzymes were three times higher than normal and the blood oxygen level was low. After consultation, the experts agreed that he had a myocardial infarction and asked him to undergo further cardiac angiography. If the obstruction exceeds 70%, he would undergo cardiac stent surgery directly. In addition, because my liver and uric acid were dozens of points higher than normal values, my husband was also told that he had chronic renal failure.
Fortunately, the name of the disease the doctor mentioned did not scare me. I understand in my heart that no matter how many problems there are, they will eventually be solved with Chinese medicine.
At around 11 o'clock in the morning, a doctor on duty called me to the door of the ward and told me how many dangers might arise or break out if cardiac angiography was not performed. I told the doctor that no matter how much the blockage is, our choice is not to do a stent. Since we don’t need this result, there is no point in doing this examination. When I told the doctor that no matter how severe the blockage is, we all hope to use Chinese medicine to treat it, the doctor looked disdainful and said that when Western medicine is irreversible, how can Chinese medicine be possible? Before that, three experts had called Mo Xi to the doctor's duty room and told them the benefits of doing it and the risks of not doing it, but Mo Xi didn't agree.
Second day in hospital
Early on the morning of February 2, the doctor on duty and the director of the cardiology department were still trying hard to persuade us to undergo cardiac angiography. We gave the choice to my husband, but he was negative. Then respect the doctor's advice and do a CT scan of the pulmonary aorta. No embolism was found, so the experts determined that my husband had a myocardial infarction, but the size of the infarction can only be determined by cardiac angiography. Their words were so conclusive that I was convinced that my husband had a heart attack. But Mo Xi still didn't agree to let her father do the stent. She said that the risk of inserting a foreign body into such an important organ was far greater than the symptoms. Only then did I realize that having a daughter who studies Chinese medicine standing with you and fighting side by side will give you a lot of peace of mind.
When you enter the hospital and face various instruments and injections, your illness will feel ritualistic.
I asked the doctor, if he only does an examination and doesn’t do a stent no matter how much the blockage is, is it okay? The doctor said that if the area of blockage exceeds 70%, he will not ask for your opinion and will get a stent immediately. It is said that after the stent surgery, he will have to be observed in the ICU ward for 5-7 days. During these days, we cannot accompany him and only have short visiting time every day. If this is true, then the gentleman lying on the hospital bed will always be a patient. My husband's hospitalization shocked many friends, and our refusal to cooperate with the doctor's examination surprised his friends and leaders. As a result, calls and messages of persuasion came one after another. While thanking them for their concern, Moxi and I were determined because we knew that Chinese medicine could truly make her father recover.
While resisting various friendly "kidnappings", Mr. was treated with cephalosporins, moxifloxacin, vasodilators, diuretics and other injections and oral medications. At this time, I observed a phenomenon. My husband would have severe wheezing between 5:40 and 6:20 in the evening on the 1st and 2nd, and then slowly ease up. Moreover, after taking a large amount of western medicine, my husband suffered from severe night sweats for two consecutive nights. Since the doctor wouldn't let him get out of bed, I helped him press the acupuncture points on the instep of Taichong, Xiangu, Diwuhui, Zulinqi, and the second and third acupoints on his hands. When I applied a little more force, he screamed in pain. , one can imagine how cold his body is and how blocked his meridians are. I told Mo Xi that we can't go on like this, we must use Chinese medicine to treat him, otherwise my father will become more weak and farther away from health.
The third day of hospitalization
In order to save time and let my husband drink the medicine as quickly as possible, I carried the medicine jar directly to the studio at 7 a.m. on the 3rd, boiled water while filling the medicine, and then took the medicine soaked in boiling water home to cook. Sitting in the car, holding a warm medicine jar, shots of himself and others being treated after practicing medicine flashed out. Over the past 13 years, Chinese medicine culture has been integrated into my blood and has become a belief and an attitude towards life. I believe in Chinese medicine, I believe in myself, and I also believe in my husband’s trust in me, so I cannot bear or do not want my husband to continue treatment in a direction that everyone thinks is correct, but is actually wrong.
"I'm here to cure the illness of you and your relatives… to keep them alive." Master Zhongjing's words are very true. I have studied Chinese medicine for more than ten years and helped so many people. It is a real merit to help my loved ones at critical times.
At around 9 a.m. on the 3rd, my husband drank the traditional Chinese medicine I had prepared. Because he was connected to a monitor and an intravenous drip, he had difficulty moving, and the doctor did not allow him to get out of bed. More importantly, he was unable to sit up from the bed, and he would breathe heavily if he moved even a little bit, so he was worried that he would have diarrhea after drinking the medicine. I told him that this time the medicine would be directed to the bladder, not the large intestine, and would at most result in more urination, so he drank it with confidence.
My husband started drinking Chinese medicine behind the doctor's back.
At 5 o'clock in the afternoon, my husband said he was thirsty, so I poured some water and handed it to him. Unexpectedly, he sat up from the bed suddenly, not panting at all, very energetic and relaxed. I said happily: "Our traditional Chinese medicine is so powerful!" It seemed that the 120 grams of astragalus and 90 grams of Codonopsis pilosula in the prescription reversed his trend of continued qi deficiency.
Because we had never agreed to do a cardiac angiography, we switched to a cardiac spiral CT on the afternoon of the 3rd. The results found no obstruction. The blood test in the morning also showed that the cardiac enzyme index was close to normal. At this time, the doctor told us that with symptoms like my husband’s, the probability of not needing a stent is less than 5%. I just want to assume that if Mr. had a cardiac angiogram on the first day, maybe he would be the other 95%. It seems that time has changed, and the results have also changed. If I believe in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction made by experts in Beijing and Shenzhen two days ago, then I believe even more in the power of traditional Chinese medicine. Once the medicinal power is sufficient, the meridians will be unblocked.
At this time, the experts' eyes turned to my husband's lungs and they suspected that there was something wrong with the lungs.
Fourth day of hospitalization
On the morning of the 4th, a bedside chest color ultrasound was performed, and it was initially determined that my husband had pulmonary hydrops. Then the doctor called me to the office and told me about various problems that may occur in the lungs, including interstitial lung and tuberculosis. He even implicitly told me that the early symptoms of a certain disease also have this kind of symptom. We need to continue to investigate and see. What caused the fluid in his lungs. I calmly returned to the ward and told my husband and Mo Xi that the doctor had mentioned various possibilities for the lungs and even suspected early stage lung cancer. If they say this, just treat them as nonsense. They don’t understand lung qi deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine. They have to use the equipment to detect various disease names such as interstitial lung, tuberculosis, atypical pneumonia, and cancer before they know how to treat it. . And we now need to reduce the harm of Western medicine and discharge patients as soon as possible.
Because my husband only coughed a few times and had no phlegm, they could not take a sputum sample. Therefore, experts are considering performing a lung biopsy on my husband to diagnose his lung problems. The three of us in the family talked about how my husband’s writer friend Ma Yuan was diagnosed with lung cancer in the hospital and how he escaped from the hospital, how he flew to Shenzhen to meet Mr. Zhao and how he wrote this experience into "Ox, Demons and Snake Gods". Therefore, we once again reached a consensus that no matter what the doctor said, we would definitely not puncture. No matter what the disease is, we always choose to go home and drink traditional Chinese medicine.
After taking Chinese medicine, I secretly added Western medicine to my husband, starting with furosemide.
At around 10 o'clock in the morning, when the nurse was about to inject my husband with a diuretic, I asked for a delay. After communicating with the doctor, I agreed to switch to oral furosemide tablets. In this way, whenever the nurse brought it, I would put it away and not give it to my husband. I know that if you drink Chinese medicine, your husband will definitely get better.
In fact, the thoracic color ultrasound performed in the emergency department at 6:30 a.m. on the 1st already had a diagnostic opinion: a small amount of bilateral pleural effusion was possible. But I don’t understand why the experts in the inpatient department keep believing that my husband has a myocardial infarction. Is it because myocardial enzymes are three times higher than the normal value?
Since I was in good spirits from the afternoon of the 3rd, and acted like a normal person during the day on the 4th, my husband started to handle work and receive guests. After a busy day, he only took a half-hour break at noon. As a result, I started to breathe again between 10:20 and 12:00 that night and couldn't lie down. The doctor on duty recommended a chest color ultrasound and lung color ultrasound the next day. If there is a lot of fluid, consider puncture and drainage. I immediately told the doctor not to pump as much as possible. No matter how much water he had, he would absorb it by himself because it was not yet necessary to pump. The doctor said that after seeing the color ultrasound results tomorrow, the recovery from pumping would be faster. As everyone knows, some speed comes at the cost of damaging vitality. The faster it is, the greater the side effects will be. Hormone drugs are an example.
The fifth day of hospitalization
A blood test on the morning of the 5th showed that my husband's muscle liver index and uric acid index were normal, and his chronic renal failure was cured. This is what I expected. I believe in the effect of two days of traditional Chinese medicine, because we have cured many patients with kidney disease. In our eyes, my husband's kidney problem can be solved with a few bowls of traditional Chinese medicine.
At around 11 o'clock in the morning, my husband had a color ultrasound of his chest and lungs. It was found that the fluid in his lungs was less than on the 4th. The director of the color ultrasound room said that this amount of fluid could be pumped or not, but he still used a blue pen on the lower right side of his back. He marked it and said that if he wanted to smoke it, he would use this as the puncture point.
On the 5th, after a day of rest during the day, my husband read the newspaper energetically in the evening.
Back in the ward, I said to my husband: "You will never need puncture to pump water. You know Aunt Li (see the article "The Seventh Medical History: My Cancer Friends"), Aunt Liu (see "Miscellaneous Feelings of Medical Practitioners") Three: Doctors realize their self-worth through the health of their patients" article), they were all inserted with drainage tubes by the hospital, but they were able to have the tubes removed by the two aunts through our traditional Chinese medicine conditioning. You have to believe in yourself Self-healing ability.”
On the afternoon of the 5th, I started taking the second dose of Chinese medicine, and I added Tinglizi. In addition to urinating more, my husband can have bowel movements twice a day. He is in good condition throughout the day, but Western medicine still cannot find the cause of his illness. I muttered to Mo Xi, not only was he weak, but he was drawing blood every day, doing X-ray CT scans every day, and consulting on the indicators and data detected by the instruments every day. I really went to these big hospitals and used so many experts. Except for cardiac angiography, stents and thoracentesis, we did everything else that needed to be done, but we still couldn't find the reason why they needed it. Mr. Zhao said: "As long as they can't find the reason, they won't be able to start. Once the reason is clear, they will do something, they will focus on one thing and miss the other, and they will get further and further away from the real reason. Using traditional Chinese medicine to regulate and take care of the whole body, it seems that Inaction is actually great governance.”
Mr. Zhao is right. Look at those targeted therapies, look at those surgeries, look at those chemotherapy and radiotherapy, look at those patients who died clearly under the treatment of Western medicine, I know how terrible it is to be promising.
The sixth to eighth days of hospitalization
On the 6th, my husband was in good condition. He washed his hair and took a bath in the afternoon and looked completely like a normal person. Since my husband was admitted to hospital, his blood oxygen has been low and not up to standard, but the doctor can't find the reason. During this period, the doctor asked me which hospital had my husband taken the medicine prescribed by the doctor when he was feeling unwell in the past 13 years. When I told him that he took the traditional Chinese medicine prescribed by his daughter, the doctor was silent. On the morning of the 7th, the doctor asked me to provide the name of the traditional Chinese medicine my husband usually drinks. He said that the consulting doctor wanted to study it. I wrote "codonopsis, angelica, adenophora, almond, polygonatum, poria, smilax, raw rehmannia, yam, rehmannia glutinosa" to him. . Medicine and food come from the same source. If you stew a few bones or half a pound of pork with these things, wouldn't you be able to stew a nice soup? Many people slander that Chinese medicine harms the liver and kidneys. Do they still suspect that Chinese medicine harms the lungs?
On the evening of the 6th, I saw the infusion area of the emergency department of the hospital where my husband lived was brightly lit and many people were getting IV drips.
Starting from the afternoon of the second day of hospitalization, the doctor asked us to record my husband's in and out in detail. They checked every morning and afternoon. Starting from the 4th, they found that the ratio of intake (drinking water) and output (urination) was very different, and they were worried about his excessive sodium loss and electrolyte confusion, but the results were normal. Because we didn’t dare to write down the daily dose of 800ml of Chinese medicine, but this has the advantage that the doctor started to reduce the diuretic by half on the afternoon of the 5th, and stopped it completely on the 7th (although they gave it to me, they didn’t let my husband take it). But our family of three was secretly happy and having fun secretly.
When delivering the medicine on the morning of the 7th, the nurse specifically told me that diuretics were no longer needed. I knew in my heart that I wouldn’t eat it even if it was given to me.
On the 7th, his condition continued to improve, and my husband requested to be discharged from the hospital. Because his blood oxygen level was still low and the reason could not be found, the hospital refused to discharge him. However, all the injections were withdrawn, and it was recommended to observe for another day and have another consultation.
There was no blood test on the 6th and 7th.
Blood was drawn on the morning of the 8th, and the alveolar function test was done at 9:30 am. The index was low. The doctor suspected that he had interstitial lung disease. After the consultation at 11 o'clock, he was asked to do a lung CT again, but there was still no problem. . I told my husband that the reason for your illness is lung qi deficiency. Lung qi deficiency is related to weak kidney qi and other organs. They can't detect it through examination. The real reason is your decades of working late nights and smoking, which cannot be detected. So, go home from the hospital, change your living habits, drink Chinese medicine for a year, and don’t come to the hospital again.
discharged
My husband returned home on the evening of the 8th and did not take any of the Western medicine he brought back from the hospital. He continued to drink Chinese medicine. I started walking 2.5 kilometers on the greenway in the morning of the 9th, and started working at 3 p.m.; I walked 3.9 kilometers in the morning of the 10th, and basically kept it around 6 kilometers every day thereafter. Fortunately, because of this illness, my husband is trying to change his work habit of reversing day and night. He tries to go to bed around 1 o'clock at night, get up at 7 o'clock in the morning, and do morning exercise. And in less than 20 days, I lost 8 pounds of fat and enjoyed the joy of morning exercise.
I didn’t take any of the medicine I brought back from the hospital.
My husband was hospitalized for 8 days and underwent two X-rays, two color ultrasounds, one pulmonary artery CT, one heart spiral CT, and one lung CT. Such high-density examinations all involve radiation, a total of 7 times. If your health is poor, you will peel off a layer of skin just from various examinations. Even if you are not sick, you may be tortured or frightened into getting sick.
When Mo Xi went to go through the discharge procedures for her father, she saw the hospitalization introduction that said: After admission, please ask the cardiology department, respiratory department and the city's consultation for anti-platelet aggregation, lipid regulation, dilation of blood vessels, anti-infection, cough and expectorant, diuresis, After antihypertensive, anticoagulant and other symptomatic and supportive treatment, the symptoms improved and the condition became stable, and he was transferred to the hospital. Moxi was also told that his father should not be allowed to eat things that are harmful to the liver and kidneys. Moxi asked what the things that were harmful to the liver and kidneys were, and the doctor said such as traditional Chinese medicine.
Mo Xi accompanies his father for morning exercise. Go to bed early and get up early, exercise appropriately, and drink traditional Chinese medicine, which is more effective than any examination and treatment.
When Mo Xi told us these experiences, we laughed. How glad we are that we know Chinese medicine! How lucky I am that I can use what I have learned to protect my family from invasive examinations and even treatments by Western medicine at critical times!
In fact, I have never doubted the doctors' sense of responsibility or their spirit of saving lives and helping the wounded, but I do not approve of their treatment direction. The eyes of the respiratory department are focused on the lungs, the eyes of the cardiology department are focused on the heart, and the eyes of the imaging department are focused on shadows and fluid accumulation. They are all experts in each department, but they do not treat my husband as a whole. This is like a blind man trying to figure out an elephant. what differences are there?
Liang Shuming once said: "Western medicine is a view of the body, and Chinese medicine is a view of life." Life is in motion, and the ontology that unifies life is Qi, and this Qi is Yang Qi. "Things will naturally rot and then insects will grow." Diseases in the human body are caused by insufficient righteousness and evil spirits taking advantage of the deficiency, causing the human body to lose its balance. When Qi is sufficient, the human body can correct itself. Therefore, Chinese medicine follows the functions of the internal organs of the human body and does everything without force or force.
