However, Hanghang has a special liking for the little trains in cartoons. He also drew many trains on the wall of his courtyard, and even sleeps with the train toys in his hand.
Hanghang's father, Li Jiawei, was an electrician. Seeing that his son liked trains so much, he came up with the idea of building a real train for his son. Later, he got a copy of "Steam Locomotive" published in 1984 from a retired steam train driver. He spent three months learning the professional drawing software CAD by himself, independently drew drawings, and compiled standards for the parts needed for the train. and size.
Due to the large number of processes and low demand, hardware factories are unwilling to process smaller versions of parts. Therefore, he also studied the principles of mechanical transmission and dynamics and built parts by himself.
The road was getting harder and harder, and there seemed to be no end in sight, but thinking of the promise to his son, he still chose to grit his teeth and persevere. "People must live a meaningful life. I can only leave my child with a thought, or something to commemorate, to make him feel that his father really loves me."
In eight years, Li Jiawei tried thousands of times and replaced 6 boilers, and finally successfully built the first miniature steam train for his son in 2021. At present, Li Jiawei has made a total of eight steam trains, and Hanghang has become a skilled "train driver".
Li Jiawei said that in the process of improving the train again and again, Hanghang's condition gradually improved, he was no longer afraid of strangers, and he was more smiling and lively than before.
"This is the pressure gauge, this is the forward and backward gears, this is responsible for controlling the speed…" Now, 15-year-old Hanghang often talks and introduces his beloved steam train to everyone. He is on this journey that his father created for him, slowly integrating into society and getting on the right track bit by bit.

Because Li Jiawei is usually very busy with work and his family's financial situation, he rarely takes Hanghang on long trips, but he has always wanted to take Hanghang on the Fuxing. In order to fulfill the good wishes of the father and son, China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd. took the initiative to invite them to experience the Fuxing intelligent EMU.
On May 15, Li Jiawei and Hanghang got up early, boarded the Fuxing smart EMU train G8622, and embarked on this novel journey from Shapingba to Chengdu East.
After boarding the high-speed train that day, Hanghang was very excited. He looked around curiously and kept saying, "This train is too big!" Looking at his son's happy appearance, Li Jiawei said, "The way he looks now, it's so exciting." I remembered how happy he was when he drove the train for the first time."
"The seats are very comfortable, and you can experience rich leisure and entertainment functions. Long-distance travel is not only comfortable, but also not boring." Li Jiawei, who rode the Fuxing smart EMU for the first time, couldn't help but sigh: "China's high-speed rail is too It’s so comfortable!”
On the same day, they also came to the simulated driving training room of Chongqing Locomotive Depot. Here, Hanghang experienced the locomotive control of a normal-speed train driver.
The locomotives in the training room are reproduced 1:1 as real locomotives. The training equipment inside is mainly used for locomotive testing, driving operation training, fault handling, abnormal driving emergency response, etc. It is a training base for new locomotive drivers and co-drivers.
Under the guidance of professionals, Hanghang entered the cab of a regular-speed locomotive for the first time and truly felt the shock brought by the "real train".
"This is the reversing handle, used to control the locomotive to run forward and backward; this is the speed control handle, used to control the locomotive's running speed…" Under the explanation of the professionals, Hanghang was extremely excited.
He stared at the screen intently, eyes full of excitement. Suddenly, he raised his head and said firmly to his father: "I also want to be a train driver in the future!"
After successfully building many small trains, Li Jiawei did not stop and has now updated the small trains he built to the third generation. In order to make the small train more refined, more powerful and drive farther, he is still learning.
After visiting the Fuxing smart EMU and simulated cab, Li Jiawei was very moved and said to the railway staff: "My biggest wish is that Hanghang can fully integrate into society and support itself in the future."
